Luke Nicholas As one of Canada’s youngest First Nations elected officials, Luke has been involved in municipal, provincial, and federal politics since he was elected to the Oneida Council at age 18. Over the past six years Luke has had extensive experience in building bridges between government and stakeholders, designing public advocacy campaigns, and offering his insights on effective negotiation to executives, board members, and community leaders. Luke’s portfolio includes successfully negotiating major capital projects that include healthcare centers, hospitals, and daycares as well as operational funding for special education, primary health, training, etc. Luke has also been extensively involved in economic and sustainable development projects for First Nations forestry, mining, and energy projects in the North. “Understanding government and stakeholder needs, desires, and fears is an important part of having any successful relationship.”. When Luke is not at Queens Park or Parliament Hill he enjoys spending time with his many nieces and nephews in London, Ontario. |
